Many have chosen to return from industrialism to a life centered on farming in the recent years, with natural and organic way of life also seen highlighted in business opportunities. Many now prefer to taste real food that are not saturated with artificial flavorings, using their taste buds to rediscover the forgotten plethora of flavors that nature has blessed us with. The experience connects with life and also makes people realize the order and the role that we play in nature’s food chain. This phenomenon of returning back to nature is like an introspective ritual that urges us to contemplate on our overly “civilized” ways.

★248 Farmers' Market|Healthy food must come from a healthy land

Yang, Ru-Men, the founder of 248 Farmers’ Market, is a passionate soul that cares about the agricultural development of Taiwan. He has always hoped that the small farmers in Taiwan could have a stable platform to sell their produce. Fate would have it that a friend would lend him a small piece of vacant land in the East District in order for Yang to fulfill his idea. The farmers’ market started in the East District in 2008, and it is where famers could interact directly with customers. With time, some customers and farmers have become friends, making the weekly market not just a place to sell and buy but where lifelong trust is formed. Some regular customers are even spotted transformed into volunteers, enthusiastically introducing the produce to new customers even before the farmers have a chance to speak.
★SoFr3sh |Green-tech dream factory reminiscent of Avatar's Pandor

Everybody loves a good neighbor, but what about an unconventional dream factory of plants that breaks boundaries and spatial constraints? This is what makes SoFr3sh so unique. Located in a basement, SoFr3sh has surpassed preexisting limitations and has planted organic plants in its space in abundance. Bouquets of lettuces are seen sunbathing behind transparent glass walls, blooming ever so vividly with bright greens and deep purples. The plants are categorized and placed on four floors, with LED light beams shinning on them tenderly. The setting is rather high-tech and feels like a sci-fi world, giving off the illusion of being outdoors, with endless farmland seemingly stretching far out behind.
★ Leezen Organic| Honesty is the best policy, an organic forerunner

People nowadays love to buy things as a group to seek out great discounts, with the items purchased including pretty much everything under the sun, from thermal underwear, cosmetic laser treatment, snow fungus jujube sweet soup, instant green curry meal pouches… you name it, they've got it! However, since the beginning of the 90s, a group of health conscious minds was already troubled by the increasingly more severe pollution problems faced by our environment. They found it difficult to buy healthful food ingredients and began buying pesticide-free and fertilizer-free vegetables as a group. Unity is strength, and as the group’s dynamic energy continued to expand, the group’s members also began taking on various tasks including planting, transporting, sorting, labeling, etc. Leezen began not as a proper brick and mortar store nor did they have a team of well-trained staff. It started with a group of people sharing the some ideology and investing what they can. This is how Leezen started, a co-op based on honesty and trust.
